Wow, go Ruby! Yes there were stunt falls but they never lost their energy or stopped fighting. Their tumbling is definitely the best in the UK for ag5.

Also seen a few catty tweets about them from Gold Star already (saying they didn't hit so shouldn't celebrate their win). Hope the battle of all girl 5 doesn't become a complete bitch fest! Sure many teams haven't hit perfect but have still deserved and celebrated for a win! And tbh that's rich coming from GS who have major hitting issues.

@post6 stop trying to cause trouble I don't think any GS would say that when they know they didn't hit last season.
Tori and claire are good friends and so are most of the girls on the teams so go away and stop trying to cause trouble

thats not nice to hear, the thing that is great about surrey and ruby is their sportsmanship (something that cannot be said for goldstar) ruby and surrey were rooting for each other all day saying good luck and well done, i saw surrey cheering for them when they performed and standing up for them and clapping when they won, lovely too see, well done guys! this is what cheer is all about

Surrey are such a good team in terms of sportsmanship. They've always been so friendly and supportive with their 'rival' teams

Surrey bitched about gs last season I heard then doing it at comps. Don't go skating gs before you have even saw them compete. And causing trouble with them and Ruby.

Don't need to know the girl as she obviously knows exactly who she is if she deleted the tweet! Let's hope Gold Star don't win a section with any bobbles or falls, because we all know they'd celebrate regardless of not hitting clean.

I really see nothing wrong with celebrating a win if you fall. Falls and bobbles happen, if you still win your routine is obviously pretty damn awesome!!

I think any team would celebrate even if they didn't hit clean. Just because it's not perfect doesn't mean it's not better than another teams. I agree with @post14, the winning element obviously falls in other aspects of the routine!

no need to slate surrey now.. everyone who was at icc knows that ruby and surrey have great sportsmanship, they were both rooting for each other which is lovely to see from a mother from a different team, my girls look up to both, NEITHER are bitchy teams, can't wait to see both teams kill it at heart of england!

people are forgetting it was unity's first time at AG5 and for their first time they SMASHED IT and i loved how supportive they were of starlets and the same with starlets to ruby! sportsmanship was great. between those two teams they make AG5 less bitchy and entertaining.

Ruby didn't hit clean but still won at first time out, they had great attitudes and was FIERCE. cant wait to watch them develop over the season

Ruby were amazing, although they didn't hit they still put on a show and there tumbling was definitely the best in the division. Amethysts pyramid was sensational so exited to see these two teams progress throughout the season.

As for Goldstar bitching about Ruby, they need to grow up, they did that with Amethyst last year aswell and its getting beyond a joke. They are meant to set an example for younger athletes and that is far from what they are doing.

I think it was deserved for Indigo, as they hit pretty well wheras as lot of teams didn't yesterday. OA was a very small team, so not sure if that hindered them slightly with stunting etc.

I think all 3 routines in the division were great though!

Why was the athlete from Pretty Bullets allowed back onto the mat to compete again? I thought rules were if you have an injury and the music is stopped then that athlete is not allowed to return onto the mat when the team goes back on? Or do each company have different rules on that?

@post48 I'm not sure why you wouldn't let them back on if they turn out to be ok, which is surely the best outcome? I kind of see where you're coming from as in why stop the routine if you're not hurt but I don't think it's in anyone's interests to fake it. Can't think why else you wouldn't let them back on than to prevent teams faking it but who would do that?

I'm not saying she was faking it, far from it, she was clearly injured and hurting when it happened. I just thought that was the rules that they have, I know its what FC say although I have seen different at times. I do feel for her and don't think she should of gone back on especially as she was injured again and hobbled off, just curious as to if that's the same ruling ICC go by

Work harder. It might not be the advice you were looking for. The onus is on you to prove to your coaches that you deserve a chance. Go to open gyms, seek out your own group where you can base/fly/whatever. If you truly improve you'll get noticed in the right way. Cheer is a team sport and if right now you need to front on your team to be the best use to everyone, then that's what you'll do. Best time for coaches to be trying people in new spots is beginning of season where pressure of comps is not upon them.

While I also appreciate why splitting divisions into small and large is good for some programmes (namely ones with a large and a small team), I really don't like it. I think it mitigates competition and I'd rather have my girls compete in a big division. This season our favourite was Scotcheer because we could clearly see how we fitted in against all the other teams there, not just the ones in a small division. Not splitting divisions would also sort out the scoring inconsistencies across the division. I know 20th place may not have been a desirable outcome for anyone, but that's exactly what it's like at worlds.

@post62 thank you, that has cleared up the tiny scoring bit for me.

Inconsistent judging. Seems BCA knew who they wanted to get partial paid before anyone competed. Star Spirit are a good jazz team but they did not deserve a partial paid bid this weekend. Seems like the jazz scores were bumped up to allow those 2 teams to get paid when in reality Large Pom teams were much better. In the same way that small Pom scores were considerably lower, as were large hip hop. BCA have lost a lot of respect from me, they are attracting high level teams and making a bit of a mockery out of the bid system which is totally unfair on the teams that work hard to achieve. If you weren't in the "right" division this weekend you really had no chance. Top 3 from small hip hop getting bids was ridiculous and teams such as JC Red missed out on bids because of that.
In response to: BCA NEWCASTLE RESULTS
Wed 1st Jun 2016, 00:47
@post61 I agree with the first part about the panel judging. It's a shame as the bids are given out based on these scores, so for one division to be so much lower than another simply isn't fair.

The tiny pom thing doesn't bother me as much as judges quite often keep in mind the age of the participants when they are scoring difficulty, execution, choreography etc. and so at that level scores are really just a way to convey who danced best, not necessarily who was the best in all the sections to be scored on. Do you get me? It's the same at all the comps I have gone to, my tiny's usually score in the realms of 180-220 points which is about the same as my seniors.

I don't think Red were given a deliberately low score (I don't buy into all this talk of biased judges or anything), but I definitely think they were given a low score, period. They were MILES ahead of where they were at worlds when they were just nipping at Brisbane's toes, so to be a whole 8 points behind them here is ludicrous.

All in all I really enjoyed BCA. It was a great atmosphere and the staff were brilliant, but I agree that these scores (quantitatively) were not reflective of the routines I saw. I also think 98.8 is a crazy score for a routine. Only 1.2% away from perfect. Really? It was a great routine and certainly harder than I could do myself, but it was clear they had a few issues from both watching it live and the clip posted on JC's page. I'm not saying it wasn't great or that it didn't deserve a worlds bid, I'm saying that it did not merit such a crazy score when others were judged differently.
