Its such a nice video! I know the tryouts are in sutton tennis academy. Does anyone know whether the gymnastics centre will be built, or if tumbles will be performed on their sprung tumble track? I'm worried it wont be long enough for my pass

I heard that they will be using their sprung track but they may have a sprung floor in time too. If you're concerned, video your long pass and show them, then perform what you can fit in on the day. Good luck

I'm interested to know how they choose who will be apart of the squad, obviously they have to consider past members but what happens if lots of new people tryout with all the skills, will they choose the newer members over the older ones - some of which do not have the skills...? How would you go about choosing the squad roster?

Yeah they choose the people who have the skills. There have been people who didn't get back on even though they were on the team before.

I was surprised about galaxy dance and cheer their youth team was amazing! Definitely a team to look out for next year and I heard one of the jounior dancers say that their coach was going to make a new team of their amazing advanced dancers to bring it next year so I would watch out youths and juniors I wouldn't worry about cheer dance only stunt teams and cheer.

You can do it as an individual, you don't need to go through a team. It may be worth mentioning to your club you are interested though, if someone had been helping me all season and expressed a wish to qualify I'd probably fund it if they were going to continue to be committed.

A lot of people go on the BGU level 1/2 course before setting up a programme, so you don't have to have any knowledge/experience. Of course it does help though. BGU consists of coaching stunts, so they will go through the coaching points of a stunt with a demo group and the technique/perhaps any progressions, then have you get into a 'stunt group' but no one does any actual stunting, it's just you saying what each member in the stunt group would do. There was a bit on jumps and jump technique and then also spotting tumbles and tumble progressions/drills. I think there was also a very small section on choreographing a dance and what will score well or what is expected in each 8 count, which was actually quite useful. There is also a closed book test, but the questions were on what was covered on the day so providing you took it all in nothing will catch you out.

I just did the BGU course to requalify, after I previously held another coaching qualification for 3 years so I guess I'm probably not the best person to answer from a no experience point of view. I did also have 3 other members of my team go on the BGU course, they were all just cheerleaders, so they had cheer experience but no coaching experience and they all passed no problems. I believe FC said no one fails as such, but if you don't pass any part of the course, they will give you extra support and tuition so they are able to pass you at some point. It's all about being safe and obviously they cannot pass someone who perhaps still needs some additional training.

It must be standing. Just like a cartwheel is standing. Cartwheel tuck is level 4 which I always assumed was because it counts as standing tumbling. If it counted as running then surely you could do cartwheel tuck in level 3.
