Does Southampton Solent not have their own cheer squad now? Solent Ravens?

Yes, Solent Ravens do still exist. Vixens however do have girls from Solent University on the team as well as University of Southampton and some non-uni students. Thanks.

Additional clarification-- the Unified System that Legacy uses involves a process called
"comparative scoring". That means judges are not only looking at the range you hit, but also at the teams that are performing that day. So in this query for tumbling... a team that uses a lot of recycled tumbling verses a team that does non-recylced tumbling (if given exact same skills/technique) would generally score higher in that range. That's because the range is not a set number- its a range to give judges room to make those assessments that compare teams within each range and ensure the final ranking of the teams is correct. Again, a ton more information on this will be available at the course. This is just a simple way to explain it.

**Clarifying... in reality per your question if you had 2 great tumblers... THEN it would not be as easy to get 15 specialty passes. Just to be sure you know I didn't mean it directly like your team can't hit a high range-- I just was referring to your example of using 2 tumblers to hit a high range with my example of a team of 20. That would not be as easy to do. x

@post10 I wouldn't say maximum scores, but it can help if used efficiently. For example... for running tumbling, you're scored in a range of below, low, medium, or high plus you have a technique score (and additional overall impression scores that take technique into account as well... but thats another discussion). Your question really relates to the range score. So, the range your score is within is determined by the difficulty and amount of skills you do. (Its defined on the grids and the Legacy scoresheet if you want specifics). To hit the high range on running tumbling for a team of 20, you need "most (75%) of the team to perform a level-appropriate tumbling pass with specialty skills" (specialty skills are listed on the scoresheets and grids, but are generally the combo passes that are at the top of your skill level). So for the example of a team of 20, you'd need 15 passes that match that criteria throughout the routine to get into the high range. In reality that's not likely to get the high range you're looking for.

Keep in mind that the high range is there not because every team can hit it-- its there to give a place for judges to reward a team that can. Many teams can't hit that, but can strive to that. The team that hits a low or medium range in tumbling can absolutely still be very competitive if they hit other parts of the scoresheet. We'll go over that in more specifics in the course, but this is a starting point for thought. In general, I'd say do as much as you can and recycle tumblers at an appropriate pace to still keep them involved in the other routine elements as well.

Hope that clarifies. Call us if you need further info. x

Hi All,

I put a message up a while ago in behalf of a dance teacher friend who is looking for a gymnastics coach to run the classes on a Sunday 10-2 in the East End of Glasgow.

Pay is negotiable - looking to start immediately this Sunday and position is permanant. Basic tumbling skills only required as all floor work (no beams, bars etc...). A bit like a cheerleading tumbling class.

If you are interested please email me: twistandhit@yahoo.co.uk

or leave your email for me to pass on to the dance teacher.

Thanks,

Sarah
